Kravings: MR. PORTER!!!!

This week saw the much anticipated launch of Mr. Porter, the cousin to the amazing women’s website Net-A-Porter. I know stylish men logged on all around the world to see what had to offer. I myself have a strong appreciation and adoration for men’s fashion so I logged on as well. What I found was a clean, simple, organized online shopping store that all gentlemen could appreciate.

With the temperatures rising everyday I decided to browse Mr. Porter and give you my picks for some Spring / Summer staple looks.

Look 1 – A plaid shirt, a pair of chino shorts, and a clean white sneaker is always a cool summer look to go for. *PS by Paul Smith SS Check Shirt, Incotex Linen Blend Chino Shorts, YSL Leather High Top Sneaker*

Look 2 – A crisp white button down, a light weight trouser pant, and a fun car shoe is an easy breezy springtime outfit. *Acne Oxford Shirt, Gucci Cotton Cargo Trousers, Car Suede Driving Shoe*

Look 3 – A fitted denim shirt paired with a great pair of white jeans and a canvas shoe is denim on denim perfection. *APC Denim Shirt, Burberry London Steadman Slim Jean, B Store Canvas Shoe*

Look 4 – Get sporty with a classic polo, a classic chino pant and a not so classic but mighty sleek denim sneaker. *Balenciaga Contrast Insert Pique Polo, Burberry London Cotton Chinos, Lanvin Denim and Leather Sneaker*

Look 5 – When the temps drop a tad bit a light weight sweater is needed; keep it summer friendly with cotton shorts and an awesome pair of brogue shoes. *John Smedley Striped Crew Neck Sweater, Burberry Brit Cotton Shorts, Paul Smith Perforated Leather Brogues*

Don’t forget your cool pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes and block the rays for the month’s ahead!

*Persol Steve McQueen Folding Sunglasses*

While I do not condone breaking the bank to purchase all these items, my selections are meant to give you an inspiration of items that you need in your wardrobe. So get to it! Happy Spring Shopping!

Happy Birthday Gucci!

Gucci celebrates 90 years of delivering quality, luxury, and pure craftsmanship. As homage to the fashion power house, Women’s Wear Daily has dedicated majority of today’s issue with a manifestation of best wishes from its affiliates and displayed some of the great moments and fashions of Gucci’s reign. WWD has even worked in conjunction with Apple developers to deliver their first iPAD app for their WWD Milestones edition dedicated to Gucci. “What a birthday present?!” Much deserved from a fashion house that started its humble beginning in 1921 with two store openings in Florence and has become one of the fashion power houses of today.  The app highlights Gucci’s early start of leather craftsman on to a multinational conglomerate. Again we wish Gucci a Happy Birthday and many more years of delivering us the best in fashion.

MUSE: Chrishell Stubbs

Chrishell Stubbs, Ford Models

I’m not sure if its because Caribbean beauty Ms. Stubbs looks like the lovechild of Erykah Badu and Noemi Lenoire with a little Aishwarya Rai, but I am inspired by Chrishell’s beauty.  As you will see in the photos below, she also has a chameleon quality when it comes to her ethnicity…in some looks she appears creole, in some she appears Indian and others she clearly displays African American features.  Regardless of her background, she is a breathtaking beauty who has caught our eyes here at KRAVE.

Honoring Black History Month

Black History Month is a time to commemorate and honor those who have made distinguished contributions in different facets of community and lives of African-Americans. In an effort to recognize those that have provided “first” and/or contributed to breaking boundaries we have identified the following individuals.

Tyson Beckford

Meet the first black male supermodel! Not only is Tyson the first black male supermodel he is the first male model to reach supermodel status in a fashion world dominated by divine, statuesque females. This native New Yorker has graced the pages of publications such as Essence, Details, and GQ. But he is best known for his work as a Ralph Lauren model. He has been named one of the “50 Most Beautiful People” by People Magazine and has hosted TV shows such as Make Me A Supermodel on Bravo.

David Agbodji

David Agbodji is the first black male model to open and close for a Calvin Klein show. He broke out in Milan Men’s Fashion Week where he stole the show. This is considered a big feat because the fashion world appears to be considerably dominated by a majority race. David was born in Paris, is French-Nigerian and has modeled for such layouts in Interview, French Vogue, Surface, and German GQ.

Tyra Banks

Oh Ms. Tyra! The beautiful bombshell is the first black female model to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated, GQ, and the Victoria’s Secret catalogue. Getting her start on the runways of Paris, she has went on to achieve a multitude of accomplishments including acting, singing, status of businesswoman, and the host of such shows as America’s Next Top Model and The Tyra Banks Show. She has also acted in such shows and movies as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Felicity, Just Shoot Me, All of Us, and Gossip Girls.

Naomi Campbell

There is one word for this beauty…..FIERCE! Naomi Campbell is the first black female model to grace the cover of French Vogue and Time Magazine. She has graced over 500 covers which include Elle, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar and countless others. Naomi is part of the 90’s supermodel era which included the “Big Six,” Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss, and herself. Her very impressive résumé also includes acting in such shows and movie as The Cosby Show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, New York Undercover, Ugly Betty and countless others.

Barack and Michelle Obama

How beautiful is this?! The first African-American president Barack Obama and his lovely wife Michelle Obama, the first African-American first Lady. This power couple has achieved the ultimate feat and what so many before them have struggled to see accomplished. The induction of an African-American in the White House helps to give hope to all and pave the way for many of all races.  Our 44th president is not only the first African-American president; he was the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. Through his hard work, values, and strong family upbringing, the president has knocked over many barriers.
